Two Vietnamese short films vie at Singapore International Film Festival 2026
VOV.VN - Two Vietnamese short films, "Blue days" directed by Vu Trung Duc and "Through the cracks" directed by Le Hoang, have been selected for the Southeast Asian Short Film category at the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) 2026.
Both works belong to the five productions supported by the 2025 CJ Short Film Project. This milestone extends the international presence of young Vietnamese filmmakers nurtured by the CJ initiative, following the prior success of "The Rabbit's Dream" by director Nguyen Thien An at the Cannes and Toronto film festivals.
Clocking in at 14 minutes, "Through the cracks" follows a man who hears strange noises in his head immediately before his wedding, forcing him to confront long-hidden secrets. The cast features Nguyen Sy Hau, Bao Dinh, and Thien Tu. Director Le Hoang noted that he employed sound as an artistic device to convey psychological instability and character anomalies.
Meanwhile, the 20-minute "Blue days" portrays two teenagers navigating turbulent formative years as they evade school bullies and gradually uncover a buried story from the past.
Director Vu Trung Duc shared that the film stems from his reflections on youth: "The past is both a nurturing grace and a curse of regret."
