Two Vietnamese dishes selected to serve athletes at 2024 Paris Olympics

VOV.VN - As the host of the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics, France has chosen two Vietnamese dishes, including Phở (noodle soup) and Nem rán (spring rolls), to serve to athletes at the games.

According to website Seasia, an independent and trusted premier source of news regarding Southeast Asia, the 2024 Paris Olympic Organizing Committee has officially announced the menu for athletes participating in the world's largest sporting event, with the list featuring two familiar Vietnamese favourites.

Most notably, in the Asian pavilion Phở is called the "Soup of the day" and is served in three main meals. The nutritional information of the dish is also published on the games’ official system, thereby helping participants to calculate its nutritional value.

Furthermore, the organising committee also introduces Nem rán (spring rolls) as "Vietnamese cuisine".

Phở (noodle soup) is one of the most beloved Vietnamese dishes due to its unique flavours coupled with elegant simplicity.

The addition of herbs and spices serves to boost the flavors, whilst the chewy rice noodles, juicy beef slices, and crunchy sprouts all elevate the dish to another level, according to TasteAtlas, an encyclopedia of flavours and a world atlas showcasing traditional dishes, local ingredients, and authentic restaurants.

Nem rán (spring rolls) are among the most common dishes eaten by local people in the country. They are usually served as an appetizer, but can also constitute a satisfying main meal, TasteAtlas wrote.

The 2024 Paris Olympics are running from July 26 to August 11 and involve the participation of nearly 10,500 athletes from 206 countries and territories across the globe. Vietnam has sent a total of 16 athletes to the tournament, although the sporting delegation haven’t won any medals so far.
