TV channel to offer Korean movies in Vietnam

VOV.VN - A leading television company from the Republic of Korea has plans to launch the channel, tvN Movies, first in Singapore and expand to Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia later this year.

CJ E&M has announced it is introducing the first overseas television channel to exclusively air Korean movies and will broadcast some 200 films – including over 20 recent releases – encompassing all genres.

The ROK media giant had signed a contract with StarHub, the largest telecom service provider and private broadcaster in Singapore, and began delivering tvN Movies to over 540,000 households earlier this year.

CJ E&M is currently in contact with cable channels and Internet Protocol TV companies in Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

Our goal is to make CJ E&M rank among the top 10 culture content companies in the world by 2020, said the company’s Chief Executive Kim Sung-su.

CJ E&M has been laying the groundwork for its expansion in Asia over recent years. In December last year, it acquired Vietnamese content company Blue Group and debuted CJ Blue Corp.
