Trong Hieu brings Chu Dong Tu-inspired national costume to Mister Global 2026
VOV.VN - Representing Vietnam at Mister Global 2026 in Thailand, model Truong Trong Hieu will showcase a 15-kilogram national costume titled "Vu hoa dong thang" (The Ascent of the Bronze Civilization).
Handcrafted over 60 days by designer Nguyen Hung Bao and his team following thorough historical research, the outfit draws inspiration from Chu Dong Tu, a legendary figure in Vietnamese folk mythology.
It integrates a traditional loincloth, a divine staff and hat, and Dong Son bronze drum and Lac bird motifs. Hieu emphasized that the design aims to convey the narrative of national origins rather than rely solely on visual effects.
The grand finale is scheduled for October 10 in Thailand, featuring 40 contestants. Ahead of the final night, beauty portal Sash Factor predicts Hieu will place in the top 20, while the official People's Choice poll ranks the Vietnamese representative second.
Born in 2001 and standing 1.85 meters tall from Lam Dong province, Hieu is a graduate of Hsing Wu University in Taiwan (China) and a professional model. Vietnam holds a strong track record at the pageant, highlighted by Nguyen Van Son winning the title in 2015 and Danh Chieu Linh claiming first runner-up in 2021 before assuming the crown.
