Tien Minh cruises to Japan Open semi-finals
(VOV) - Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh has advanced to the semifinals of the Japan Open following a 2-0 victory over India’s Ajay Jayaram in their September 20 encounter.
Jayaram leaped out to an early lead, edging ahead 9-3 and 13-7, before Tien Minh fought back to equalise at 16-16. The Vietnamese player eventually took the set in 20 minutes with the score 21-18.
Tien Minh was much more dominant in the second, winning seven consecutive points to lead 12-4, and claimed the match 21-13.
Tien Minh lost two early August matches to Ajay Jayaram in the Indian Badminton League tournament.
Minh will quite likely face off against Malaysia’s World No1 Lee Chong Wei in the semi-final.
