Thousands join vibrant “Colors of Uncle Ho’s City” festival in HCM City

VOV.VN - On April 19 evening, thousands of people flocked to the area in front of the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council and People’s Committee, as well as Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, to take part in the opening night of the cultural and artistic festival “Colors of Uncle Ho’s City.”

The event is part of a string of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

The festival opened with an international 3D mapping show featuring creative teams from France, Belgium, and Singapore. Each team brought its own storytelling style through light, showcasing cultural and technological themes as well as contemporary views of Ho Chi Minh City, a youthful, dynamic, and ever-evolving metropolis reaching out to the world.

A standout 3D mapping performance by the Vietnamese team took audiences on a journey across the S-shaped land, from the majestic North and sun-drenched Central region to the vibrant South. Scenes of Vietnamese nature and people came alive with modern light, sound, and visual effects, creating an emotional and immersive artistic experience.

Also on opening night, various traditional and contemporary performances were held along Nguyen Hue Street and the Saigon River, including open-air music and dance, don ca tai tu (a form of traditional Southern Vietnamese chamber music), floating flower lanterns, and water sports displays.

The festival will continue with major programs such as “Colors of the City,” “City Rhythms,” “Art Flow,” an outdoor film screening, the “Echoes of the Great Spring Victory” cinema exhibition, and a special performance for Reunification Day. A record-breaking drone show featuring 10,500 drones and an artistic fireworks display will also highlight the event.

“Colors of Uncle Ho’s City” is a heartfelt cultural greeting from Ho Chi Minh City to international friends, underscoring the identity of a modern, compassionate, and forward-looking city.

Later that evening, a dazzling fireworks display lit up the city’s skyline in celebration of the upcoming Reunification Day.
