Tet in the old days enacted in Old Quarter
This is the first time these tourists witnessed the Tet celebrations of a typical Hanoian family in the past. The dishes, ornamental trees and calligraphy, all impress them.
Tran Minh Hoang, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City said this was his first time coming to Hanoi. He found that the way of celebrating Tet festival here was very different from that in Ho Chi Minh City. Also, the cultural space was fascinating.
Dinh Hoang Nam, tourist from Ho Chi Minh City expressed that in the south, Tet celebrations came earlier. The atmosphere was also more bustling.
On display at the Tet space event which will last until Feb. 20 are the worshiping space of a family in the northern region and “standard” trays of traditional Tet dishes along with folk paintings and favourite blossoms for Tet.
Mrs Tran Thi Thuy Lan – Deputy Head, Management Board for Hanoi’s Old Quarter told that the event was aimed at preserving and honouring the traditional cultural values, while providing tourists, especially young people, with typical values in Tet celebration of Hanoi families in bygone days.
Additionally, there will be performances of traditional musical shows from February 17 - 20, or from the second day to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.
