Teams line up for futsal cup in Danang

The central city of Danang will host the final round of the futsal tournament – the Larue Cup, at the Eastern Bank Stadium on June 29-30.

Sixteen teams that qualified from provincial and city qualifying rounds will compete in a knock-out final round for the trophy and a cash-prize of VND100 million (US$4,800).

The second place is worth VND50 million (US$2,400), while the third-placed team will get VND30 million (US$1,400).

The Larue Cup, which held its first competition in 2008, is the biggest amateur futsal tournament in Vietnam.

"The cup is also an opportunity for scouts and coaches from the national teams who are searching for young talent in amateur tournaments like this," said the head of the organizing committee, Nguyen PhucLinh.

"The tournament brings us an exciting football festival, with all the skilful players taking part."
Linh said that the Kim Toan Team from Ho Chi Minh City would unveil their all-student squad of stars in the final round.

Nguyen Van Hoang Lam, the tournaments sponsor, said the organising committee has handed out a total of VND1 billion (US$48,000) amongst all the participating teams

The qualifying rounds involved 5,000 players from 700 teams competing in 16 provinces and cities nationwide over the last two months.

Last year, Vietnam Airlines took the crown.
