Sumo Crab honours winner weighing 1.4kg in Vietnam
VOV.VN - A crab weighing over 1.4kg won the Sumo Crab competition held in the southernmost province of Ca Mau on December 25.
The crab No. 11 from Nam Can district took home top prize after recording a total weight of 1.452kg. It beat other 40 rivals to claim a cash prize of VND15 million.
According to organisers, participating crabs were required to originate from Ca Mau, and owners must take full responsibility for the origin of crabs.
This marks the first time that Ca Mau has hosted a crab festival, which is taking place from December 23 to 31.
The occasion features a wide range of activities, including a crab racing, a Masterchef contest setting a record of 69 dishes made from the Ca Mau crab, and the Sumo Crab competition.
The festival also presents a prime opportunity to promote the brand of Ca Mau crab and other local specialties, attract more domestic and international travelers, and seek further investment and cooperation.
