State costume design contest launched

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on August 1 launched a contest to design State formal costume that will be worn at national and international events.

The competition is open to individuals, organisations, and professional and amateur designers both at home and abroad who are 18-years-old and above.

The candidates are required to design four mock-ups for men and women, covering traditional and modern trends. They are encouraged to use traditional materials in their designs that include an explanation note of about 100 words.

The outfits must be convenient and suit the country’s climate as well as Vietnamese people’s stature, while reflecting Vietnam’s special cultural identities.

The organising board will receive entries from November 1-5 at the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions at No.38 Cao Ba Quat Street, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi.

The four best designs will be awarded cash prizes totalling VND120 million.
