Splendor of Vietnam showcased at Cultural Day event in Egypt

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt organised a Vietnam Cultural Day at a public library in Ismailia on April 2, with a large number of local officials and people to taking part.

The embassy presented a bookcase covering topics related to Vietnam, introduced the country’s unique cuisine culture and people, with the highlight being a photo collection taken in Vietnam by a former Egyptian official during his earlier trip to the country. There were also art performances presented by Egyptian artists.

Vietnamese Ambassador Do Hoang Long said the event is part of activities marking the 55th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and highlighted its great significance for Ismailia province which boasts great potential for economic development particularly  agriculture, while local people have a limited chance to  update information about Vietnam.

The opening  of a reading-room at the library will help the local people gain valuable insights into the rich history of Vietnam, said the Vietnamese diplomat, expressing hope that such events will be launched in other Egyptian provinces to disseminate more information about Vietnam to the local people, through which economic and trade links will be further promoted.

The ambassador also suggested setting up a twin relationship between Hanoi and Cairo, and Ninh Binh and Luxor provinces in the near future.

In his remarks at an art exchange between Vietnamese and Egyptian artists, Ismailia Governor Yassin Taher showed his hope that bilateral relations between the two nations will continue to thrive across different fields, particularly in the investment projects.

The exhibition presents Ismailia people with an image of Vietnam as a modern and developed nation, the Governor said and pledged the best efforts to bolster cultural cooperation between the two countries.
