Special art programme to honour 50 years of national reunification
VOV.VN - Voice of Vietnam Radio (VOV) is scheduled to host a special political-artistic programme titled “The Song of Triumph” in Hanoi on April 25 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025) and towards the 80th anniversary of the national broadcaster.

The programme, due to take place at 8:00 PM at the Hanoi Opera House, will be broadcast live on VOV1 and VOV3 radio channels, streamed online at VOV.VN, and televised live on VTV2.
“The Song of Triumph” will be divided into three parts, with part 1 “Hanoi Hears the Victory” recreating the emotional morning of April 30, 1975, when Hanoi residents first heard the historic victory announcement on VOV's loudspeakers.
Part 2 titled “Marching to Saigon” portrays the vibrant atmosphere in the South as liberation forces entered Saigon, featuring historical footage, eyewitness accounts, and iconic songs.
Part 3 themed “The Nation After Reunification” highlights Vietnam’s 50-year journey of rebuilding and development, showcasing the country's integration and achievements through modern, inspirational music.
“With its large-scale production and well-invested, in-depth content, ‘The Song of Triumph’ is not merely an art programme commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. It is a significant milestone that contributes to educating the younger generation on the revolutionary tradition, inspiring patriotism, and raising awareness about preserving and advancing the hard-earned achievements of our predecessors, said Pham Manh Hung, vice president of VOV and head of the organising committee of the programme.
Alongside the musical performances, the programme will also feature documentaries where historical witnesses, war veterans, artists, and veteran journalists - those who lived through or participated in the historic moment of April 30, 1975 - will share their profound memories, to help the audience, especially today’s youth, gain a more authentic appreciation for the value of peace, independence, and freedom.
“The Song of Triumph has been completely reimagined, bringing together young artists and newly arranged versions of classic songs, medleys, and mashups,” said People’s Artist Quoc Hung, head of the music programme.
In addition to acclaimed vocalists such as Meritorious Artists Lan Anh, Hoang Tung, and Tan Nhan, the programme also features a new generation of artists including Nguyen Tran Trung Quan, Dong Hung, and the vocal group Oplus.
“We’ve re-arranged old songs with a modern touch to suit the style and voices of these young performers,” he noted.
According to People’s Artist Quoc Hung, The Song of Triumph is not only an emotionally rich musical experience, it is also a tribute to the spirit of national unity, meant to stir pride and gratitude for the generations who sacrificed for the homeland. Each performance is meticulously crafted, with careful investment in sound design, lighting, and stage visuals, blending tradition with modernity for a powerful artistic experience.
The Song of Triumph is also a significant highlight in the series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of VOV (September 7, 1945 - 2025), one of the country’s oldest and most influential media organisations.
