Special art programme commemorates Hung Kings – nation’s founders
VOV.VN - The organization board of Hung Kings’ Death Anniversary staged a special art programme in Viet Tri City on April 9 evening to commemorate the death anniversary of Hung Kings believed to be the founders of the Vietnamese nation.
Nearly 200 artists performed pieces in praise of the merits of Hung Kings who founded Van Lang – the first state of ancient Vietnamese people – as well as of the nation’s spirit of solidarity and the tradition of mutual assistance.
The programme was designed to promote cultural heritage and natural scenery of Phu Tho a destination for tourists to return to the roots of the Vietnamese nation. It also aimed to popularize the Hung King worship ritual which was recognized by UNESCO as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012.
Right after art performances was a dazzling high-altitude fireworks display that marked the start of the Ancestral Anniversary festival.
The festival is held annually on the 10th day of the third lunar month in Viet Tri City of Phu Tho province to commemorate Hung Kings. Thousands of Vietnamese people have paid homage to the ancestral land several days ahead of the festival.
