Seminar highlights India-Vietnam cultural relations

VOV.VN - An international seminar on the theme “India-Vietnam Cultural Relations: Retrospect and Prospect” was held in New Delhi on February 20-21. 

In his remarks, Vietnam Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh described the significance of the event as saying culture is one of the pillars of the two nations' strategic partnership. 

The two countries enjoy many advantages to promote cultural relations as they share a lot of cultural similarities, he said, noting that cultural cooperation need to be further boosted as the good way to step up bilateral cooperation in other fields.

Anil Wadhwa, Secretary of the Indian Ministry of External Relations, looked back at the time-honoured cultural relations between Vietnam and India.

As Vietnam is a pillar in India’s Act East policy, India prioritises enhancing cultural engagement with the Southeast Asian country both bilaterally and in the framework of India’s ties with the ASEAN and the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation, he said.

Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations VUFO President Vu Xuan Hong underscored the need for  the two nations to forge cooperatioin in education and training to help their people deepen mutual understanding about each nation’s culture.
