Second African film festival in Vietnam to be held in late June

VOV.VN - The Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) is scheduled to take place from June 26 to 30 in Hanoi, aiming to introduce the African cinema industry to Vietnamese cinemagoers.

The festival, the second of its kind in Vietnam, will introduce five movies from Morocco, the Ivory Coast, Haiti, Senegal, and Belgium, that are expected to provide moviegoers with a greater insight into the natural landscapes and people of Africa.

The movies have all received several awards at prestigious film festivals from around the world and are set to be screened for free with both Vietnamese and French subtitles on offer for viewers at the Vietnam Film Institute.

The event will be co-organised by the Embassies of Morocco in Vietnam, the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF)’s Asia-Pacific Office, the Wallonie-Bruxelles delegation to Vietnam, and the French Institute in Vietnam. The first festival was held in the country in 2022.

Launched in 1969, FESPACO has developed into one of the largest African festivals. It takes place biennially in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.
