Santos, Malaga to play Vietnamese friendlies

(VOV) - The Brazilian FC Santos and Spanish FC Malaga will each play a friendly match against Vietnam’s U23 team as part of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Cup later this September.

Chief Coach of Vietnam’s U23 team Hoang Van Phuc regards the domestic tournament as excellent preparation ahead of the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar.

Santos recently sold Neymar da Silva, meaning Vietnamese fans will miss the chance to admire the skills of the emerging Brazilian superstar.

But Santos is likely to compensate by fielding other internationally renowned talents like Neilton, Juan, and Elano.

Malaga’s La Liga commitments mean it can only send its B team for its Vietnamese match.

Vietnam wil play Santos in an opening match of the HCM City Football Cup at Thong Nhat Stadium on September 29.

After the tournament, the national U23 team will train in Hungary and then play a friendly against Myanmar in October.
