Russian National Orchestra to perform in Vietnam this October
VOV.VN - The Russian National Orchestra will make performances in a two-day concert at Ho Guom Opera Theatre in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi in mid-October 2024, according to Vietnam Airlines and Thanh Viet production that will play host to the concert.
The Vietnam Airlines Classic – Hanoi Concert (VACC 2024) will be staged at Ho Guom Opera Theatre on October 12-13 as part of activities to mark the capital city’s 70th Liberation Day (October 10), said organisers at a press briefing in Hanoi on June 27.
On October 12 night, the Russian National Orchestra will perform the Vietnamese National Anthem and other classical pieces under the baton of conductor César Álvarez (Spain). World renowned pianist Eva Gevorgyan (Russia - Armenia) will join in the first performing day.
The second night on October 13 will feature some ballet excerpts performed by dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre.
The Russian National Orchestra was founded in 1990 by pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev. Over the past 30 years, the orchestra has achieved international fame and public recognition, becoming a living symbol of the best in Russian art.
The orchestra appears in the music capitals of Europe, Asia and the Americas, and is is a frequent guest at festivals such as Edinburgh, the BBC Proms and Festival Napa Valley. It presents the RNO Grand Festival each September to open the Moscow season.
In 2004, the Russian National Orchestra became the first in the history of Russian symphony orchestras to receive the Grammy Awards. Gramophone, the most reputable music magazine in Europe, has ranked the RNO on the list of 20 best orchestras in the world.
