Renowned Japanese artist to introduce lacquer painting works in Hanoi

VOV.VN - A lacquer painting exhibition titled “Moon” by talented Japanese artist Saeko Ando is set to be introduced to the public on September 8 at the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam.

The event is held as part of activities aimed at celebrating the 50th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

According to the plan, all the artworks displayed at the exhibition will depict the moon in various phases, seasons, weathers, times of day, and shades of colour.

Most notably, they are displayed alongside waka poems which have been specifically chosen for them, said the organiser.

Born in Japan back in 1968, Saeko Ando later settled in the country, dedicating her passion to traditional Vietnamese lacquer art and painting. Her paintings beautifully blend into Japanese sensibility with traditional Vietnamese lacquer techniques, earning widespread acclaim for their artistic prowess.

Beyond her artistic pursuits, she has also garnered plenty of recognition as a researcher in the field of natural lacquer, sharing her expertise at conferences and seminars held around the world.

Another artwork directed by Ando, the opera project “Princess Anio”, will also be premiered from September 22 to September 24 at the Hanoi Opera House.

This comes after her innovative lacquer painting exhibition "Microcosmos x Macrocosmos – Hoi An, Where I live between two cosmoses” was also held in Hoi An in early August.
