(VOV) -Late President Ho Chi Minh’s “Prison Diary” poems have been published in Spanish by the Coleccióndel Sur Publishing House in Cuba.

The book launch in Havana on May 11 was attended by President of the Cuban Book Institute Zuleica Romay, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Vu Chi Cong, researchers, literary critics, and local Cuban readers.

The Spanish version of the “Prison Diary” was translated by famous Cuban poet Felix Pita Rodriguez and published in Cuba for the first time in 1960.

Ambassador Cong thanked the Cuban Book Institute for launching this special edition of the book on the 123rdbirth anniversary of President Ho. He said it will help promote cultural exchanges and strengthen the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

Many scholars say that President Ho’s literary work shows his humanity and burning desire for national independence, even though he was living in poor conditions and struggling against disease in jail.

Cuban readers expressed their admiration for President Ho, who they described as an outstanding revolutionary, talented leader and great poet of the Vietnamese people. The “Prison Diary” will allow the Cuban people to understand more about President Ho and Vietnamese culture, they added.
