Preparations for the Royal Coronation Ceremony

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha said that the Government was pleased to have learned about the schedule for the Royal Coronation Ceremony, following an announcement by the Bureau of the Royal Household.

Speaking after the Cabinet meeting on January 2, 2019, the Prime Minister referred to the announcement by the Bureau of the Royal Household, stating that the Royal Coronation of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun will be held on 4-6 May 2019.

He said that the Government is preparing arrangements for the ceremony, with the highest honors accorded in accordance with royal traditions.

It will form the National Commission on the Royal Coronation Ceremony and other committees to handle various functions for this important event.

The Prime Minister assigned Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam to serve as head for the preparations. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will be invited to give advice on the preparations.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Prime Minister on 2 January 2019 issued an announcement on the Royal Coronation Ceremony.

According to the announcement, the Royal Coronation Ceremony is an important event that the Government and the people of Thailand are looking forward to, as they join hands in preparing the most excellent arrangements for this auspicious occasion, in accordance with royal traditions.

The announcement states that since His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn accepted the invitation to accede to the throne in 2016, the Government has embarked on a number of arrangements in preparation for the Royal Coronation Ceremony. It will establish a national committee and other related committees to facilitate the organization of this extraordinary event.

The Government will inform the people on the progress of preparations.
