Pictures: Fairy Lantern Garden at Royal City

(VOV) -Residents from throughout the metropolitan area have been flocking to the Vincom Centre Mega Mall Royal City in Hanoi to take in the sights of a Fairy Garden magnificently decorated with colourful lanterns.

Covering 2,000 square meters, the Fairy Lantern Garden has been recognized as the largest of its kind by the Vietnam Record Book Centre (Vietkings).

At the event, there are literally thousands of brilliant lanterns to lighten the heart made from traditional materials such as bamboo.
Giant Den Keo Quan (a lantern which spins around with vivid, rotating paper-cut figures), symbolizes the seasonal spinning of the earth around the sun.

The lanterns revolve around a variety of themes such as the Vietnamese fairy tale ‘Con Rong Chau Tien’ (Children of the Fairy and the Dragon),

Saint Giong, who used bamboo trees to fend off invaders to protect the country,
Vietnamese folktale of the Star Fruit Tree,
and the Vietnamese Folktale about how watermelon was first brought into Vietnam.

Visitors also have chance to play Vietnamese traditional folk games.
