Pianist wins Junior Academy Eppan prize
(VOV) - Vietnamese-born Polish Nguyen Viet Trung has been awarded Italy’s Piano Academy Eppan’s Junior Prize for under-18 pianists with special talent.
Junior Academy Eppan is an advanced course for young talented pianists to develop their artistic skills in different international music environments.
Only eight students are invited to Eppan, northern Italy, to attend the three-day Masterclass with Professor Andrea Bonatta which runs from March 22-24 and is followed by two public performances.
This year, the Masterclass gathered young pianists from Japan, Canada, the US, China, Austria and Vietnam, several of whom have won big competitions previously, such as Ettlingen and Tchaikovski.
Trung and his fellow students performed before 300 classical music lovers who voted for their favourite piece.
The Vietnamese pianist entered the top 3 Junior Prize with the highest vote, followed by contestants from Austria and China.
Trung will now return to Poland to continue his curriculum at the Warsaw Conservatory before heading back to Vietnam later this year.
In December 2012, Trung performed with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) in the Pastoral Symphony Concert at the Hanoi Opera House.
