Photo exhibition helps bring Vietnam closer to India

VOV.VN - More than 100 black-and-white and colourful photos capturing the friendly relations between Vietnam and India have been put on display at an exhibition held at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum.

Images of leaders of the two countries are being showcased at the event, including President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to India in 1958, Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s visit to Vietnam in 1954, exchanges between the two countries led by General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh in 1989, and Indian President Ram Nath Kovind in 2018.

The exhibition also introduces photos featuring bilateral co-operation in the fields of the economy, politics, security, defence, trade and investment, science and technology, cultural exchanges, education, as well as scientific research.

Many images reflect people-to-people diplomacy activities held between Vietnam and India in general, and between Ho Chi Minh City and Indian localities in particular.

Addressing the opening ceremony on January 7, Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed pleasure at the flourishing relationship between both, and expressed hope that further co-operation will be promoted in such fields as health care, education, and culture.

Huynh Thanh Lap, president of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, noted that both sides supported each other in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and pushing for greater economic recovery. Notably, he said the two countries have agreed to open direct flights between Hanoi and New Delhi, as well as between other major cities.

The exhibition is jointly held by the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam-India Friendship Association, and the Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Culture and Sports. It aims to mark the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-India diplomatic relations which initially began on January 7, 1972.
