Persian carpets showcased in Hanoi exhibition

(VOV) - More than 200 high-quality Persian carpets hand-woven in the traditional way by Iranian artisans worth between US$500 and US$2 million each, are on display at Melia Hotel in Hanoi from November 21-23.

The exhibition –the second of its kind in Vietnam- offers an insight into the 2,500-year-old handicraft of the Iranian people. It introduced two noted Iranian artisans, Bagher Seirafian and Amir Erami, who were named as the two best carpet weavers at the National Carpet Festival held in Tehran in August this year.

At the opening ceremony, Iranian Ambassador to Vietnam Hossein Alvandi Behineh said the carpets show the unique cultural value and religious life of the Iranian people, He emphasised that Persian carpets are the best in the world, which are real art works rather than decorative objects.

Particularly, visitors to the exhibition this time will admire the world’s most expensive carpet worth US$2 million. There are only two such carpets in the world and one is being exhibited at the Iranian Royal Palace Museum.

The exhibition is a special cultural event, helping connect the two cultures and strengthen cooperative ties between Vietnam and Iran.
