Peach blossom festival in Dong Van stone plateau
A peach blossom festival is taking place at Dong Van stone plateau in Meo Vac district of the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang.
The event was opened with an art exchange programme on February 21.
Tourists can take the chance to visit poetic peach blossom gardens in Thao Chu Lung hamlet, Ta Lung commune, and join in dancing and singing with local people, or tasting traditional dishes of Mong ethnic people.
Secretary of the Party Committee of Meo Vac district Tran Quang Minh said the festival creates an opportunity for the district to promote the local land, people, culture, and tourism.
It will help strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation, and promote investment of domestic and foreign businesses and organisations, he added.
Spreading over the four mountainous districts of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Meo Vac and Dong Van in the north of Ha Giang, Dong Van plateau is blessed with beautiful nature and cultural diversity from ethnic minority groups.
The plateau was recognised as a member of the Global Network of National Geoparks in 2010, becoming Vietnam’s first geological park and the second in Southeast Asia.
