Over 100 artists gather to perform “We Are the World” at Hanoi alumni gala
VOV.VN - The second season of the Hanoi alumni gala will return after three years, reuniting singers and bands who were university students in the 1990s.
The gala will take place on the evening of April 12, 2025 at the campus of the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The event will bring together over 100 singers and bands from the capital’s alumni community, including renowned artists such as musician Quoc Trung and the Phuong Dong Band, musician Thanh Phuong and The Time Band, Ngua Hoang Band, ABBA Vietnam, as well as dance groups Big Toe, CO, and ZigZag alongside notable hosts and performers.
The 1990s marked a period when international music deeply influenced Vietnam’s cultural and entertainment landscape, igniting an immense passion for legendary bands such as The Beatles, Queen, ABBA, Smokie, Bee Gees, Boney M, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Deep Purple, and Metallica.
During this era, university dance galas became a major trend, especially in Hanoi. These vibrant events frequently took place at major university campuses, drawing tens of thousands of students and becoming a cultural and entertainment highlight for the 6X and 7X generations.
The Hanoi alumni gala aims to recreate the electrifying atmosphere of past university dance parties, reviving the energy once felt at campuses, gymnasiums, stadiums, and dormitories while spreading enthusiasm and positivity to attendees and the broader community.
As the grand highlight of the night, organizers plan to stage a powerful live performance of "We Are the World," featuring over 100 artists singing in unison on stage, joined by thousands of attendees. The moment promises to deliver an overwhelming sense of love, deep emotions of friendship, and unforgettable memories, a heartfelt gift for all those present at this special reunion.
