National Fine Arts Museum set to host Japanese doll exhibition

VOV.VN - An exhibition running with the theme of ‘NINGYŌ: Art and Beauty of Japanese Dolls’ is poised to get underway on June 10 at the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi.

The exhibition will feature a total of 67 traditional dolls divided into four seperate sections, including “Ningyō to pray for children’s growth”, “Ningyō as fine art”, “Ningyō as folk art”, and “Spread of Ningyō culture”.

The event will present a comprehensive introduction to Japanese doll culture, from Katashiro and Amagatsu, both of which are considered to be the archetypes of dolls in the Far East nation, to local dolls that reflect the climate and anecdotes from across the country.

Dress-up dolls that are much beloved in modern Japan, as well as scale figures that are highly regarded around the world, will also be showcased at the event.

The event jointly is being organised by the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam and the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum and is scheduled to last until June 26.
