Modern Talking star to perform in Hanoi for 50 years of Vietnam-Germany ties
VOV.VN - German singer, composer and producer Thomas Anders, best known as one half of the iconic 1980s pop duo Modern Talking, will return to Hanoi for a performance on October 25 to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations.

Anders gained global fame as the lead vocalist of Modern Talking, whose chart-topping hits such as “You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul,” “Cheri Cheri Lady,” and “You Can Win If You Want” remain popular among Vietnamese audiences.
Since the duo disbanded, Anders has pursued a solo career and previously performed in Hanoi in 2016, 2018 and 2020.
News of his upcoming performance was confirmed by German Ambassador to Vietnam Helga Mararete Barth during a meeting with Tran Sy Thanh, chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, on June 2.
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, the German Embassy in Hanoi will organize a series of events highlighting German culture. In addition, a German Festival is scheduled to take place at Hoan Kiem Lake from October 17 to 19, featuring German food, music, and cultural activities.
The Embassy also plans to host a career fair in Hanoi and launch a nationwide “Career Bus” programme to offer Vietnamese youth guidance on studying, working, and living in Germany.
