The competition offers young designers an opportunity to showcase their creativity while contributing to the promotion of traditional cultural values through fashion and performing art.

“Dances of Vietnam” focuses on exploring Vietnamese cultural elements such as customs, beliefs, festivals, regional identities, and traditional materials. Contestants are required to create stage-ready designs that convey the beauty and spirit of Vietnamese culture to both domestic and international audiences.

The competition is inspired by the “Dances of the World” segment at the Miss World pageant, where contestants present their countries’ cultural stories through costumes and dances. Accordingly, “Dances of Vietnam” emphasises flexibility of movement and harmony between costume design and choreography.

Over the past few years, Vietnamese representatives at Miss World have made a strong impression in the “Dances of the World” segment with performances deeply rooted in national culture. In 2018, Tran Tieu Vy performed Chau Van, a traditional singing-and-dancing ritual honouring the Mother Goddesses. Last year, Y Nhi wore a brocade costume inspired by the mystical beauty of the Central Highlands during her performance.

So far the Vietnamese competition has received more than 300 entries covering a wide range of topics, including customs, beliefs, festivals, and scenic landscapes. The organising committee has selected the Top 50 designs to advance to the next round.

The Top 2 designs will be worn by Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc and the winner of Miss World Vietnam 2025 at upcoming Miss World beauty pageants. The “Dances of Vietnam” show is scheduled to take place at the end of March as part of the Miss World Vietnam 2025 programme.
