Miss International 2021 cancelled due to COVID-19
VOV.VN - Missosology, the world’s leading publication on beauty pageants, has reported that Miss International 2021 will be cancelled due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This comes after the global beauty pageant had been scheduled to take place in November at Pacifico Yokohama in Yokohama, Japan. The event will now be held in the fall of 2022 instead.
“Details of which will be announced in due time,” says Missosology.
The delay marks the second time that Miss International pageant has been cancelled since 1966, with the latest event moved because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Originally launched in 1960, Miss International is a Japanese-based international beauty pageant organised by the International Culture Association. Along with Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss Earth, the pageant makes up one of the Big Four major international beauty pageants.
Pham Ngoc Phuong Anh, first runner-up of Miss Vietnam 2020, has been chosen to represent the nation at Miss International 2021.
In previous versions of the event, the Vietnamese representatives have gone on to win high prizes at the Miss International pageant. They include Pham Hong Thuy Van who won the third runner-up title in 2015 and Tuong San who finished among the leading eight contestants back in 2019.
