(VOV) - Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh was defeated 0-2 once again by Pengyu Du of China in their clash at the Indonesia Open Badminton Tournament on June 12.
Pengyu Du, who overwhelmed Minh 2-0 at a recent Asian Championship, dominated the first set, ending with a score of 21-19.
Tien Minh fought back in the second set, taking the lead in the half time. However, he no longer maintained his physical strength, letting his Chinese opponent equalize the scoring 14-14 and beat him 21-15 in the end.
On the same day, the world’s No.1 player Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia triumphed over Wang Zhengming of China 3-0.
Viktor Axelsen of Denmark left the playing court in the first minutes of a match against seed No.8 Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand, who will then meet Japan’s Sho Sasaki in the second round.
