Minh makes third round in Australian Open

(VOV) - Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh entered the third round of the Yonex Australian Badminton Open after defeating host-nation rival Mitchell Wheller on April 3. 

After 17 minutes in the second set, Minh triumphed over Wheller 21-7 and 21-5.

Mitchell Wheller is now placed 705th in the World Badminton Federation (WBF)’s rankings while Tien Minh rises to 9th.

Minh will face Chinese rival Guo Kai, who is currently standing at 281st in the world rankings.

Also on April 3, number one seed for the tournament Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia clinched a victory over Prasojo Adi Andrianus from Indonesia after two sets, recording the same score, 21-7.
