Minh makes third round in Australian Open

(VOV) - Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh entered the third round of the Yonex Australian Badminton Open after defeating host-nation rival Mitchell Wheller on April 3.

After 17 minutes in the second set, Minh triumphed over Wheller 21-7 and 21-5.

Mitchell Wheller is now placed 705^th in the World Badminton Federation (WBF)’s rankings while Tien Minh rises to 9^th.

Minh will face Chinese rival Guo Kai, who is currently standing at 281^st in the world rankings.

Also on April 3, number one seed for the tournament Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia clinched a victory over Prasojo Adi Andrianus from Indonesia after two sets, recording the same score, 21-7.
