Maria Jose Lora crowned Miss Grand International 2017
VOV.VN - The Peruvian representative, Maria Jose Lora was crowned Miss Grand International 2017 in the grand finale of the pageant on Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province on October 25.

| After her excellent performances during the pageant, Miss Grand Peru Maria Jose Lora, 27, surpassed all other 76 contestants and won the highest title at the beauty contest. |

| On her crowning achievement, she said, “This is for my people, especially for everyone in my country suffering from violence. I want to tell them to stand up and not forget your dreams, you can make your dreams possible.” |

The first runner-up place went to Miss Grand Venezuela. Representatives from the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and the Czech Republic came second, third and fourth, respectively. |

In her speech at the pageant, she said, “Peace is indeed the most important topic in the world. Unfortunately it’s almost never talked about. I’m here today to raise my voice on behalf of all of the people that can’t be heard, for every child crying whose little brother or sister is not around anymore, for every parent that has gone through the hardest thing a parent can go through. Why is it so difficult for human kind to live in peace? Tolerance, compassion, and respect should be the foundation of how we live our lives. If I have the honour to be Miss Grand International, I will use my voice to spread the message of peace.” |

| In the Q&A session, she was asked about issuing a law for punishing war criminals who commit violence around the world. She said, “If I have to issue a law to punish people who create the violence in the world, I will make them understand the pain, suffering and devastation caused by war and violence.” |
