Mai Phuong departs for Miss World pageant in India
VOV.VN - Miss World Vietnam 2022 Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong left Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport on February 16 for Mumbai and New Delhi, India, for the 17th Miss World pageant.
The Vietnamese beauty queen traveled to the contest with several pieces of luggage weighing 140kg and over 30 outfits.
Phuong, 23, beat 36 other Miss World Vietnam 2022 contestants last August to claim top prize and go on to represent Vietnam in the 71st Miss World pageant.
The local girl stands at 1.70 metres tall and measures 82-63-92 cm. She currently works as an emcee, appearing on numerous television programmes.
In recent years, Vietnamese representatives have gained several prizes at the Miss World pageant. Indeed, Luong Thuy Linh reached the Top 12 in 2019 and Do Thi Ha was placed among the Top 13 finalists in 2021.
India previously hosted the beauty contest in 1996. During the 70-year history of the global pageant, Indian beauties have been crowned Miss World six times. Most recently, Manushi Chhillar won the 2017 Miss World title.
At present, as many as 130 countries have confirmed that they will send contestants to this year’s pageant, which is scheduled to take place in New Delhi and Mumbai from February 18. The grand finale is then due to be held in Mumbai on March 9.
