London exhibition shows Hanoi in 1980s
(VOV) -Nearly 60 photographs taken by UK diplomat John Ramsden during his 1981-1983 term in Vietnam were on display at an exhibition in London entitled ‘Hanoi: Spirit of Place’ from May 2-4.
The event was held jointly by the Association of Vietnamese young professionals in UK known as Vietpro and KREU, a group of Vietnamese designers and architects studying and working in London.
Ramsden said he was deeply impressed when he arrived in Hanoi for the first time and found the city was very beautiful, peaceful and tranquil.
Despite facing many difficulties living in a country recovering from a war, the Vietnamese people were still optimistic about the future, he added.
Vietnamese ambassador to the United Kingdom, Vu Quang Minh, thanked Ramsden for recording a historic time in Hanoi.
Vietpro Chairman Vo Hien said this was a very meaningful exhibition that will help younger Vietnamese generations and international friends understand more about the daily lives of Hanoians 30 years ago.
Ramsden’s photos will be brought to Vietnam to display in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City later this year.
