Local photographer named among finalists of Italian photo contest
VOV.VN - Vietnamese photographer Tran Viet Van has made it into the final round of the street category in the Urban Photo Awards, which are taking place virtually in Italy.
His photo is titled “Hồn của phố cổ”, “The soul of old town” in English, and captures an image of a 84-year-old street vendor working in Hoi An ancient city in the central province of Quang Nam.
The 12th version of the Urban Photo Awards has witnessed the participation of 11,000 photos, 417 sets of photos, and 125 photo books from 3,000 entrants globally.
The competition’s judging panel includes 31 leading experts from many countries, such as the United States, the UK, France, Italy, and Japan.
Viet Van is the only Vietnamese photographer named among the successful finalists and his picture is now set to compete in the street category.
This comes after he previously won the third prize at the Urban Photo Awards on two separate occasions, with a photo named “Những thiên thần nhỏ”, also known as “The little angels”, in 2018, along with a set of photos with the theme of “Mẹ tôi”, “My mother”, which was submitted in 2019.
The winner of the 2021 award will be announced in mid-September, with the winning photos going on to be exhibited at the Trieste Photo Day Festival in Italy before being put on display in many cities across Europe.
In particular, they will be published by international magazines such as Urban Unveils volume 6, Prism Magazine, The Post Internazionale, and Street Photography Magazine.
