Local painter showcases heritage-inspired works on world stage
VOV.VN - Vietnamese painter Le Trang has gained international recognition since early 2024, with her works featured in major exhibitions in London, Florence and Paris, bringing contemporary Vietnamese themes to global audiences.
Following her first solo exhibition in Vietnam in October 2024, Trang is set to present her second solo show, “Mộng giữa chiều hoa” (Daydream among Blossoms), at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum from January 14 to 18.
The exhibition will present 36 oil paintings drawn from four collections, reflecting Trang’s poetic and nostalgic visual language. Her works explore themes of identity, culture and gender through a contemporary Vietnamese lens.
Trang, 39, was born in Hue and is currently living in Ho Chi Minh City. She uses painting as a medium to offer multidimensional perspectives on modern Vietnamese society while drawing inspiration from traditional aesthetics.
In 2025, she was the only Vietnamese artist selected to participate in Paris Open Art, where she exhibited Self-Portrait (2024) and Dreamy Lady (2023). Self-Portrait was acquired in 2024 by Dutch businessman Laurens Last. Two other works, Daydream and The Touch, initially selected for the event, are scheduled to be shown at an international exhibition in 2026 due to logistical constraints.
Trang has also taken part in several notable international group exhibitions, including “Art Collective: From the One to the Many” at the Saatchi Gallery in London, “Let Us Hear Her Voice” at IsolartGallery in Florence, and “Inside,” part of the 20th Contemporary Art Day in Italy’s Florence region.
