Local and foreign soloists to gather at Saigon International Guitar Festival
VOV.VN - Dozens of international and local string soloists will put on concerts during the course of the annual Saigon International Guitar Festival from August 28 to September 1 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event is set to feature special performances of Swiss artist Kindle Jürg, Japanese artists Risa Shimono and Kozo Tate, young talents Kasia from Poland, as well as Pongpat Pongradit and Nutthachai Chaivanich from Thailand.
Nutthachai Chaivanich, 14, is a guitar prodigy. He first began playing the guitar at the age of eight and has since won a number of international guitar competitions such as the Thailand International Guitar Competition, the Pattaya International Guitar Festival, and the Saigon International Guitar Festival, among others.
The festival will also feature performances put on by Vietnamese-American Guitarist An Tran and Benjamin Verdery of the United States, guitarists Admir Doci of Switzerland, and Gérard Abiton of France.
A guitar competition will get underway as part of the festival, including five categories: the open category, the under-18 category, the ensemble category, the amateur category, and the under-13 amateur category.
The festival was first held back in 2014, providing a chance for Vietnamese guitarists to learn experience from world-renowned artists.
This year marks the 10th edition of the festival. Many activities will be organised during the event such as masterclasses, workshops, and lectures that will be open to visitors free of charge.
