Liem’s second draw at UK Chess tourney

(VOV) - Vietnamese Grandmaster Le Quang Liem drew with Ukraine’s rival Vassily Ivanchuk in his seventh match at the Festival Tradewise Gibraltar 2013 in the UK on January 28.
He accepted Ivanchuk’s proposal for a draw in the 14th move.
Usually players aren’t permitted to draw before 30 moves, but no official announcement has been made so far during the tourney.
So, the organizing board had to accept their draw in the seventh round.
It said the rule will be applied as of January 29.
After the match, Liem temporarily ranked 2nd with six points while Russia’s Vitiugov Nikita topped the list with 6.5 points.
Liem (Elo 2705) will face the UK’s rival Nigel Short (Elo 2690) in the next match.
