Liem’s fifth win at UK Chess Champs
(VOV) - Vietnamese chess player Le Quang Liem recorded his fifth win on January 27 at the UK’s Festival Tradewise Gibraltar 2013.
Grandmaster Liem (Elo 2705) triumphed over his Venezuelan rival and fellow international grandmaster Eduardo Iturrizaga (Elo 2650).
As a result, Liem has won five points from five matches.
He will face Russian grandmaster Nikita Vitiugov (Elo 2694)—tied with Liem on five points—in the next match.
Compatriot Vietnamese chess player Hoang Thanh Trang lost to Latvian rival Alexei Shirov (Elo 2708).
Le Quang Liem currently leads the tournament rankings and has added 12.5 points to his Elo. He is followed by Nikita Vitiugov.
Vietnam’s Hoang Thanh Trang is ranked 61st.
