Leading filmmakers to converge on Da Nang for Asian Film Festival 2025
VOV.VN - The third Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III) themed Bridging Asia is set to take place from June 29 to July 5, with a variety of cultural and film-related activities aimed at promoting Asian cinema and fostering cultural exchanges.
Organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang City, the festival will showcase the rich diversity of Asian filmmaking, highlight emerging talents, and honour filmmakers from across the region.
The highlight of the festival will be the in-competition section which will feature two categories - the Asian Film Awards for feature-length films from the Asia-Pacific region, and the Vietnam Film Awards for Vietnamese feature films. Entries in both categories must have been produced between April 2024 and March 15, 2025.
The judging panel will give out awards such as the best Vietnamese film award, the film achievement award for an excellent Asian filmmaker, the best Asian film award by young critics in the Asian film panorama programme, and the audience’s choice award for favourite Vietnamese films.
Most notably, for the first time ever DANAFF is to offer a film project market for Vietnamese and Asian young talent filmmakers.
The film festival also features a film masterclass, international seminars, and an exhibition to introduce potential filming locations around Da Nang.
The event is being co-organised by the Vietnam Association of Film Promotion and Development, the Da Nang administration, and the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) and was first held back in 2023. This year marks the third edition of the occasion.
The annual festival is held to honour outstanding films from Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region as a whole, providing a forum for domestic and foreign professional cinematographers to exchange ideas, seek cooperation opportunities, and further expand the film market.
