La Passione concert to hit stages in HCM City and Italy

VOV.VN - Local soprano Hien Nguyen, together with baritone Quoc Dat, will bring the concert La Passione (The Passion) to the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on June 16 before heading to Perugia in Italy for another show on July 25.

The first part of the concert will feature several classical international pieces, including Tristezza (Sadness) by Paolo Tosti, Quando m’envo (Musetta's Waltz) by Puccini, Torna a Surriento (Come Back to Sorrento) by Ernesto De Curtis, and Come un’ape ne’ giorni d’aprile (Like a Bee on April Days) by Gioachino Rossini.

Artists will also perform pieces by Vietnamese songwriters such as Ru Con Mùa Đông (Winter Lullaby) by Dang Huu Phuc and Sông Lô (Lo River) by Van Cao in the second part of the concert.

This comes after a successful concert held at the National Academy of Music in Hanoi in March as part of activities  to celebrate the 10th founding anniversary of the Italian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Soprano Hien Nguyen studied at the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM). In 2012 she won a scholarship to study Italian language and culture at the University for Foreigners Perugia in Perugia.

Baritone Quoc Dat first rose to prominence after being named as the winner of the National Opera and Chamber Singing Competition in 2023.
