The Israeli Ministry of Tourism made the announcement on July 21, noting that this year would mark their first time to host a Miss Universe pageant.
The 70th iteration of the pageant will be held in the resort city of Eliat in December, attracting the participation of approximately 100 contestants from across the world, including contestant Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen from Vietnam.
Previously, the Miss Universe 2020 pageant had been postponed until May due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mexican beauty Andrea Meza was crowned as Miss Universe 2020 and Vietnamese representative Khanh Van finished among the Top 21.
Kim Duyen stands at 1.73 metres tall and measures 90-60-95. Originally hailing from Can Tho, the local beauty won the first runner-up title during Miss Universe Vietnam 2019, the national competition which selects Vietnamese contestants to compete at the Miss Universe pageant.
