Jumper Hue Hoa wins gold at Singapore Open
(VOV) - Vietnamese athlete Tran Hue Hoa earned a gold medal on June 23 in the women’s triple jump at the Singapore Open Track-and-Field Championships.
Her winning jump was 13.16 meters, 0.6m shorter than her record at the 2011 SEA Games where she also won a gold medal.
Hoa outclassed all her rivals in the Singapore tournament, jumping much farther than the silver medalist Chuang Chih Han from Taiwan, who only managed to leap 12.38 meters.
In May, Hue Hoa won a gold medal in the women’s triple jump at the 2013 Taiwan Open Athletics Championships.
Other Vietnamese athletes Bui Thi Xuan and Truong Thi Thi gained silver medals in the women’s javelin and pole vaulting with achievements of 48.16 meters and 3.2 meters, respectively.
Four bronze medals went to Vu Van Huyen (men’s pole vaulting with 4.6 meters), Nguyen Duy Bang (men’s high jump with 2.06 meters), Nguyen Ngoc Quang (men’s 11m hurdles, 14.62 seconds) and Le Thanh Hung (men’s 800 meter run, with 1 minute 55.01 seconds).
