Japanese film festival to come to Hanoi

VOV.VN - The Japanese film festival 2023 will get underway in the capital from December 8 to December 21, according to information given by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam.

The annual event aims to open up fresh opportunities to allow Vietnamese audiences to access Japanese cinema, especially for movie lovers. This year the function is being held as part of activities aimed at celebrating 50 years since the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties.

The festival is expected to screen eight well-known Japanese films in different genres, all of which are realistic depictions of colourful life under Japanese-style camera angles and boundless creativity, expressing the unique worldview of filmmakers in the Far East country.

The occasion will open with “The father of milky way railroad” which competed in the Shanghai international film festival 2023, along with “A man” which walked away with eight Japan Academy Awards this year, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.

It will continue with “The lines that define me”, “The water flows to the sea”, “Liar and Liar”, and “The first slam dunk”.

Other films to be screened include “Brave: Gunjo Senki” and “We made a beautiful bouquet”, with each film shown having both Vietnamese and English subtitles.

Tickets opened for sale from December 3 at a price of VND50,000 per ticket at the National Cinema Centre at 87 Lang Ha street in Ba Dinh district.

This comes after the festival was held in Ho Chi Minh City from October 27 to November 9, Da Nang from November 17 to November 19, and Hai Phong from December 1 from December 3, with Hanoi being its final destination.
