Japanese film fest kicks off across four major cities

VOV.VN - The 16th annual Japanese Film Festival in Vietnam opened on November 1, introducing 11 popular Japanese films in the country’s four largest cities, namely Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, and Hanoi.

The festival, organised by the Japan Foundation, aims to bring Japanese cinema closer to Vietnamese audiences.

It opened with the blockbuster ‘Godzilla Minus One’ to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the iconic sci-fi monster franchise. The film won the ‘Best Visual Effects’ award at the 96th Oscar.

Furthermore, two well-known animated films, namely ‘Sand Land’ adapted from the manga by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and ‘HAIKYUU!! The Dumpster Battle’ which is a top-rated sports anime, will also be introduced as part of the occasion.

Most notably, a live-action movie ‘Let's go karaoke!’, a Japanese one-shot manga written and illustrated by Yama Wayama, will be some of the highlights of the film festival.

For drama enthusiasts, ‘Evil Does Not Exist’, ‘Mom?!’, ‘All the Long Nights’, and ‘Loved Like a Flower Bouquet’ movies will all be compelling selections.

The Japanese film fest will last until December 28.
