Japanese cultural week opens in Nghe An

(VOV) -Japan expects to promote its cultural identity during a cultural week which opened in Nghe An province, central Vietnam, on June 10.

Various activities will be held, including exhibitions of books, photographs and documents about Japan and its people.

A number of Japanese films will also be screened to highlight the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries and a delegation of Japanese diplomats, officials and businesspeople will make a fact-finding tour of Nghe An on June 12.

The cultural event is part of the 40th anniversary celebrations for Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties (1973-2013).

In recent years, Nghe An has attracted many large scale Japanese-funded projects, such as the US$1 billion Kobe Steel project in Quynh Luu district.

Japanese investors are also implementing four projects in the province for developing solar energy, producing photovoltaic devices, manufacturing automobile spare parts, and building a vocational training centre, with total investment of US$25 million.

Japan’s Nekken Sekkei Civil Engineering Ltd. is helping Nghe An design an overall plan for Vinh city by 2020, with a vision to 2030, and another Japanese firm is working with provincial authorities to construct a deepwater seaport at Cua Lo beach.
