Japanese food lovers will get lost in the world of sushi, sashimi, tempura, chawanmushi, and cupcakes with abundant tastes and colors, prepared by two Japanese guest chefs de cuisine - Yosuke Suzuki and Takeshi Yamada, the latter having served as head chef at the Japanese embassies in France and the Czech Republic.
The festival is highlighted by a traditional rice cake Mochi pounding ceremony, one of the long-established rituals made by the Japanese on the first day of the New Year to pray for luck, good health and prosperity.
Furthermore, gastronomers have a chance to watch Japanese-style dance shows every night and buy traditional Japanese handicrafts, fashion items and dried food during the festival.
A lucky draw will be organized on the final night, with a grand prize of two return flights to one of four major Japanese cities – Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya or Fukuoka, sponsored by JTB, a leading Japanese travel firm.
