Int’l women’s volleyball tournament to kick off
(VOV) -The 2013 LienVietPostBank Cup, an international women’s volleyball tournament, will take place in Bac Ninh province from May 19–26.
This year’s competition will feature four domestic teams—VTV Binh Dien-Long An, LienVietPostBank, VietinBank, and Vietsopetro—as well as three foreign teams representing China’s Shangdong and Sichuan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
The eight teams will be divided into two groups for a round robin format that will select four group winners for the semi-finals and championship games.
One of the biggest tournaments for Vietnamese women athletes, the LienVietPostBank Cup boasts a prize pool totalling US$40,000. The tournament’s winners will receive US$15,000 while the runners-up, third, and fourth placed teams win US$10,000, US$6,000, and US$3,000 respectively.
The winners of the consolation and style prizes will be awarded US$2,000.
The event is being jointly organised by the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, LienVietPostBank, and the Bac Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
