International culture week to celebrate New Year 2026 in HCM City

VOV.VN - More than 80 cultural and culinary booths, along with a vibrant lineup of performances, workshops and cosplay festivities, will come together at the International Culture Week – Welcoming the New Year 2026, set to take place in Ho Chi Minh City.

Running from December 30, 2025 to January 4, 2026, the International Culture Week will be held at Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden, transforming the venue into a lively, multinational cultural festival as local residents and visitors ring in the New Year 2026.

Stage performances will form a major highlight of the International Culture Week, showcasing diverse cultural identities through costumes, music, dance and theatrical arts.

Visitors will have chance to enjoy vibrant cultural experiences through graceful dances of Laos, praying for peace and good fortune in the new year. In addition, K-Pop and J-Pop performances will inject youthful, modern energy into the festival atmosphere, attracting large numbers of young spectators.

The programme will also feature a Cosplay Festival, offering a creative platform where participants can transform into cultural icons, animated and comic characters, or stylised traditional costumes from various countries.

A key attraction will be the Cosplay Runway, where individuals and groups showcase costumes, stage presence and character storytelling in a dynamic, festive setting.

Other highlights will be traditional Vietnamese folk art such as Tò He figurine making, calligraphy spaces with traditional scholars, butterfly lantern crafting, and mini lion-head workshops symbolising prosperity and good fortune. International-themed activities will include Indian henna painting, art and colouring sessions, mini Canadian flag-making, and face painting, that help to promote multicultural understanding and respect for diversity.

The festival will also present a stamp collection themed on plants, flora and wildlife, introducing visitors to the richness of the natural world and fostering environmental awareness. A figure exhibition featuring familiar characters from Disney, Pixar and Marvel evokes childhood memories and creates emotional connections across generations.

The international culinary zone will showcase diverse flavours from Europe, America, South Africa, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Vietnam, giving visitors the chance to enjoy global cuisine in a green and nature-friendly area.

The event is expected to encourage foreign tourists and the expat community in HCM City to participate in community activities, thereby spreading the spirit of harmony and international connection in the early days of the new year. Free tickets are available from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. from December 30 to January 4.
